Other Info:
This synthetic Spurtan BS track was believed to be first used for the 1st Annual Tipton Festival of Sport on 17-19 July 1998 and replaced a cinder track immediately east of it which roughly occupied the location of the Tipton Sports Academy building and the field where the external throwing cage is situated. The Academy building which mainly consists of indoor tennis courts was opened by John Prescott on 12th June 1998 following a £3,232,700 Lottery Sports Fund award to develop the whole site.
