Other Info:
This was a 154m banked track composed of compressed cork and linoleum strips called "Granwood" on a wooden base. It was first used on 14th Nov 1970 and staged the Scottish Indoor Champs until the mid 1970s. The jump runways were made of board and the shot circle of Granwood. It was situated in Bell's Sports Centre, located adjacent to the North Inch in Perth. The track was more round than oval and was believed to have had 4 lanes. Bell's Sports Centre is a round building and the 60m sprints were completed by taking away a couple of sections of the main track and opening the back doors to allow a run-off. The athletes would often end up in the car park. The track was a temporary structure and the storage (actually the amount of space the track took up) led to its downfall, as it restircted the use of the sports centre for other sports.
