Other Info:
The track was part of Birley High School in the Hulme suburb of Manchester which closed down in about 1994. Old Birley Street now seems to go across part of the land on which the school was situated. The track itself was situated immediately left of Princess Road (A5103) and just north of the new junction with Greenheys Lane West and on the latest A-Z seems to be in an area of no man's land so it may still be visible. On the OS 1:25,000 map (published 1982) the track appears to be smaller than 400m with an extended home straight but on the OS 1:10,000 map (date unknown) the track seems to be a regular 400m with the extended straight of the smaller track part of it. It is thought that the 400m track is the more recent one.
