The complex opened in late 2006 and features this outdoor eight lane 400m track with covered seating for 350 plus an indoor 6 lane 200m track with a 130m indoor sprint straight and an indoor throws area. It is on the site that was originally proposed for the 2005 World Championships. It was officially opened by Tessa Jowell on 16th January 2007.
