Other Info:
The track was built as a brand new council-run facility in 1996 although Hunslet Hawks rugby league football club who use the infield for their pitch first played here on 19th Nov 1995. The stadium building has several bars serving food and alcohol. The throwing cage was repaired in early 2001 and is now safe to use but use of it for training is restricted because of the rugby pitch. In addition a throwing cage external to the outdoor track was built in Sep 2001. A £4M indoor athletics and bowls complex was built alongside the stadium in 2002 following a successful bid by Leeds City Council for £3M to the Sport England Lottery Fund. The facility includes a 60m track, facilities for HJ, PV, LJ and TJ, a throws cage and a weights room.
