The track was built in 1938 and was a 4 lane 440y cinder track and was where Hampstead Harriers operated from. In about 1953 they amalgamated with New Barnet AC and became Barnet & District AC. When Copthall Stadium was built in 1964 they moved there and so the track went into disuse and may never have been altered to 400m. The track was also used by Middlesex Ladies AC and Shaftesbury Harriers. It was grassed over in 1984 at the request of Bessborough Cricket Club who use the ground so that their pitch could be enlarged. The pavilion at the ground was built in 1976.The best indication that there was once a track here is an overgrown cinder HJ area with a small sand pit in one corner although the outline of the track is just about visible in parts.
