Other Info:
The track was originally cinder and was in existence by at least 1974 when the host club Deeside AAC formed. It was upgraded to synthetic in 1998 at a cost of £1.5 million with the help of Lottery funding via the Sports Council for Wales for a consortium which included the adjacent Deeside College, Connah's Quay Nomads FC who use the infield, Deeside AAC and Flintshire County Council. The inaugural meeting held on the new facility was the Welsh Schools Finals in July 1998 although the officially opening was on 6th October 1998. The track has been awarded the prestigious Celtic Games in 2001 and holds the Beaufort Park Deeside Games in July each year. The complex also contains a well-equipped gym and a bar. The track is near to the recently open and impressive Flintshire Bridge. There is a TV Gantry building on the back straight. There are plans to build an external throwing cage to prevent damage to the infield during the football season and there is already a DT sized circle in place.
