Other Info:
The track was originally cinder. It was upgraded to synthetic in June 1999 as part of a £10M development which also included the adjacent 200m indoor track. At the time the university was called University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) and the track referred to as University of Wales Institute Cardiff Outdoor Athletics Centre. The track surface was Mondo Sportflex Super X Classic and was 8 lanes all round with a 9 lane home straight. It had a major revamp to a blue coloured 6 lane all round training track in 2017. The "Grand Opening" of the track is on 4th September 2017.
