Other Info:
The track was built in 1958-59 on university land for Cambridge University AC who hired the track at a peppercorn rent for 99 years from 1959. The pavilion was built about 1963. As all weather tracks came in, track became more and more obsolete, and the land was eventually offered for sale. The last athletic event was held at Milton Road in early 1994 and then the land was sold to property developers for £4.5M. The track was demolished in 1996 and houses built over it in 1997. CUAC demanded that the University produce a proper alternative track in return for handing in their lease and eventually the University agreed to release all funds realised from the sale to build the new track at Wilberforce Road. There was a black, synthetic 120m sprint straight in the middle of the track. The track was next to Downhams Lane.
