This location was opposite Welkin Mill which is now used by Buckleys Colour Printers on Welkin Road. It was thought to be originally part of the sports ground for Stockport Technical School. A local newspaper report dated 3rd June 1949 identifes the scheme to lay the track at what had been the refuse tip at Warth Meadows as part of an Education Committee plan. However, although an oval track is clearly shown here on several maps, it might never have been a proper cinder track. A separate source says that much later Stockport College of Further & Higher Education (formerly the Technical School) had the area cleared and a concrete edge was set up but no track was ever laid. The ground was however turned into two grass football pitches with a pavilion for Stockport council in 1999.
