Other Info:
The track was originally cinder and known as Newnham Stadium. It was upgraded to synthetic in 1989 (or maybe 1990). The track surface is Spiketop and is believed to have been resprayed in 1998 by G. Thornton (Contracts) Ltd. The stadium building was officially opened by Fatima Whitbread on 25th April 1993. The position of the LJ/TJ and PV runways were reversed in 2000. The main PV area was moved to outside the back straight and given a soft synthetic surface around the central bed. The old LJ/TJ runway and boards are still there but the pits have been removed. Similarly the PV runway and boxes can still be seen in front of the stands but the rails have been removed so those PV boxes would appear to be unusable. There is also an indoor straight at the site.
