Other Info:
The track was built in 1938 but when went out of common usage by about 1977. In 1986 I noted that the track was in terrible state and looked as if it had not been used for years. It lasted until the winter of 1998 when construction began on the 'Goals' 5-a-side football complex. The area formerly occupied by the top bend and the start of the home straight immediately east of the complex was only grassed over and the outline of the track can still be made out on the ground in the summer when the ground is dry. The home straight spanned the distance from the 4th most northern of the 10 sidebars (counting the two ones in the middle as one and thus the 5th) of the 2nd northernmost pitch to the 8th sidebar of the same pitch. The track appears to have been 6 lanes all round with an 8 lane straight.
