Other Info:
The track is owned by the Army and was originally cinder and built in about 1955 although the stadium existed before then as just a football/rugby ground. It was upgraded to a 7 lane synthetic track with a 9 lane straight in 1972 and was one of the first synthetic tracks in the UK. Aldershot, Farnham & District AC started using it at this time as the local council contributed funds to the project and continue to do so to ensure public availability. It was upgraded to 8 lanes with a 9 lane straight by Norwest Holst Construction Ltd. and resurfaced in 1998 with Polytan M although the track was not used until 1999.
