Other Info:
The track is owned by the Army and was originally cinder and built in about 1955 although the stadium existed before then as just a football/rugby ground. It was upgraded to a 7 lane synthetic track with a 9 lane straight in 1972 and was one of the first synthetic tracks in the UK. Aldershot, Farnham & District AC started using it at this time as the local council contributed funds to the project and continue to do so to ensure public availability. It was upgraded to 8 lanes with a 9 lane straight by Norwest Holst Construction Ltd. and resurfaced in 1998 with Polytan M although the track was not used until 1999. As of 2021, the surface is now Mondo. Postal enquiries about the track should be sent to Headquarters 4th Division, Steeles Road, ALDERSHOT, GU11 2DP.
