Other Info:
The track backed onto the Sixfields Community Stadium which is the home of Northampton FC and the Alwyn Hargrave Stand served both the track and the football stadium. Both were built in 1994 with the opening date of the stadium being 9th October. The infield started to be used as a football pitch in 2001 and the goal posts precluded the use of the JT runways and the internal throwing cage although the latter had been declared unsafe anyway. In spring 2014, the track closed in order to rebuild the stand for the football club. The home straight of the track was dug up as part of these works and although the rest of the track surface is still visible on aerial photos the whole track area is abandoned, fenced off and very overgrown. An alternative track has been provided at Moulton College which opened in late 2015.
